A man who spiked candy with sedative and distributed them to minors at a youth camp in the region has admitted sexual offenses against two young males who were between nine and ten.
Jon Ruben was detained after eight minors and a grown-up fell ill at the location in the summer month.
The elderly man, from that region, admitted guilt to a series of 17 offences when he was present at Leicester Crown Court on Friday.
Nevertheless, he denied a single sexual charge he was charged with, which was concerning a young boy.
The defendant was remanded in custody before a further hearing on November 28th.
'Sweet game'
Mary Prior KC, presenting evidence, detailed the criminal behavior to the court.
She explained his victims were children from difficult backgrounds who were participating in a summer program which he ran.
The man played a "treat game" with the minors, Mrs Prior stated, in which he would enter the children's bedrooms when they were preparing to sleep and ask them to ingest treats "rapidly".
She informed the proceedings the defendant had played this game with the boys "for many years", and children had previously fallen ill the following morning.
She stated Ruben had been capable of justifying this for many years as the children being "overstimulated by activities", until his stepchild had worries in recently.
Mrs Prior KC continued: "In the summer" his family member had suspicions about the situation, for good reason.
"They decided to have a look in the individual's items."
Mrs Prior KC explained items including lubricant, petroleum jelly and syringes were found, and his stepchild notified the authorities about his worries.
She stated the defendant proceeded to conduct the "treat game" with six boys that night - Saturday 26 July - and they were all sick the following morning.
"The police had not gone out by that time," she added.
The oversight body, the investigative body, had stated that it was examining Leicestershire Police's handling of the incident.
The legal representative explained the children were unable to walk properly due to their sickness, so the stepson contacted the authorities once more.
She explained the man then conducted the "treat game" in a area of five children.
